This is a lovely and charming Fine Antique Old 18th c. American Folk Art Girl & Ducks Portrait Oil Painting on canvas, depicting a young girl in a pink dress wearing a white lace bonnet over her hair, and staring inquisitively at the viewer. She holds a duck in her arms and dips her toes in a small pond below her, where other ducks are circling nearby. Behind the sitter, a woodland scene is visible. this piece appears to be unsigned, but perhaps you recognize the artist or their work? This painting likely dates to the late 18th century - early 19th century and is either American or English in origin. I have studied it very closely, and since the similarities between these two artistic schools were so alike during this era, it is nearly impossible for me to tell. However, since the measurements of this work are in standard American inches, and do not incorporate the metric system historically used in Great Britain, my hunch is that this is an original early American artwork. This small gem is approximately 10 x 12 inches (including frame.) Actual artwork is approximately 7 1/2 x 9 1/2 inches. Good - Fair condition for several centuries of age and storage, with two small tears to the painted canvas (please see photos carefully.) A tactful art restorer could easily remedy these issues, and they do not detract from its beauty in any way. Acquired in Los Angeles County, California, but I suspect this painting originates from the Northeastern United States. If you like what you see, I encourage you to make an Offer.
