Antique 1901 Backstamp Homer Laughlin \"Colonial Violet\" China Sauce Gravy Boat:
$14.29

~123-year old Homer Laughlin Colonial Violet sauce or gravy boat with gold trim and \"segmented\" handle. This pattern is often misidentified as \"Seneca Violet.\" A Seneca piece, which this is not, can be easily identified from across the room by it\'s \"two thorns\" handle.According to E.A. Barber\'s \"Marks of American potters\" pp.110-111, the \"Eagle Over Lion\" backstamp is one of the oldest Homer Laughlin backstamps, used from ~1900 to ~1904. The written number code \"6015\" seems to confirm. The first number, \"6,\" indicates the month of June, the second & third number \"01\" the year (1901), and the third number, \"5,\" the plant or manufacturing facility in Newell, West Virginia.
This antique sauce or gravy boat is in great condition for being ~123 years old. I did not notice and chips or cracks. The gold trim is worn in spots consistent with age, use, and display. Please refer to the images for detail and condition, the images are a part of the description. If you have any questions about the item please ask before placing a offer. If you can provideadditional item information or corrections to the listing description please let me know! Thanks!
